HARBASINS: a Pan-European project for North Sea water managementThe project is focused on the harmonisation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) with the Habitats and Birds Directive and with Integrated Coastal Zone Management. This focus will ultimately lead to ecosystem restoration and compatible instruments to ensure sound environmental management of estuaries and interconnected coastal zones. The project began in 2004 and is due to complete next June. |
