Rome opens its doors to ChemCon 2008This year the renowned international ChemCon Congress is held in Europe, from 9 to 13 June Rome will be opening its doors to experts from industry, competent authorities and international organizations. Expectations are that more than 300 experts from 30 countries will attend to network and share knowledge about chemical control legislation and trade aspects. All the key issues of chemical control legislation around the world like REACH, GHS (Globally Harmonized System) and country specific information on inventories, labeling requirements, etc. are the content of ChemCon 2008.
Royal Haskoning, together with Feierl-Herzele GmbH from Austria, is responsible for organizing this conference. For all the delegates at ChemCon 2008 it is important to have all the up-to-date information on current and emerging chemical regulations. Therefore renowned experts from industry will be joined by several representatives of authorities (including the European Chemicals Agency), who will explain how chemicals legislation is to be amended in the near future and what implications this has for the various sectors of industry. In an exhibition accompanying the conference participants get in touch with companies offering services to the chemical sector (like contract research organisations and IT compliance solution providers). And of course these decision–makers from the chemical industry will be able to make contact with our Royal Haskoning consultants at the exhibition. Contracts won’t actually be signed during this ambitious event, but the foundations will be laid for fruitful collaborations in the future,’ says Director of ChemCon Tjeerd Bokhout. Royal Haskoning has had a group dedicated to chemicals management in the Environment Division for twenty years, and has also had a great deal to do with legislation in the field of chemicals. ChemCon starts on Monday 9 June with a pre-conference seminar on the subjects of ‘only representative’ and ‘third party representative’, parts of REACH in which Royal Haskoning has great expertise.
